Back in March of this year, we alerted you about the financial aspect of the national opioid crisis, urging you to contact the National Association of Attorneys General to encourage the settlements not fall short.

You may have seen that the litigations are spreading.

We need your help to fight for billions, not millions, of dollars of corporate profits from opioid sales to be returned to our communities. You can help us wage that fight today by signing this letter aimed to the Special Masters appointed by the Judge overseeing the case. Make your voice heard and let them know we will push as hard as ever to ensure our communities get what they need and deserve.

Washington, DC Behavioral Health Third-Party Payor

Washington, DC, has put forward Council Bill 220703, better known as the Behavioral Health Third Party Payor Emergency Amendment Act of 2018. This legislation, if passed, will amend the District of Columbia Mental Health Information Act of 1978 to allow for the exchange of behavioral health information between health care providers and their third-party payors in connection with services to a patient.

Sponsored by Councilmember Phil Mendelson, it has currently been retained by the Council. BHAP has no official stance on this legislation, but urge those in the District of Columbia to contact your legislator to let you know of any concerns you have about it.
