Advocacy Alert: Senator Markey asks for Methadone Stories
December 19, 2024
The Office of Senator Markey, sponsor of the Modernizing Opioid Treatment Access Act (S. 644), wants to hear from people who work at or go to opioid treatment programs (OTPs or "methadone clinics") for methadone medication for opioid use disorder. If you or your patients have had a hard time getting or staying on methadone because of an OTP, let them know.
- Have you had a hard time travelling to and from clinics?
- Have you had a hard time getting to a clinic while they are open?
- Have you lost a job, missed an appointment, or faced other difficulties getting methadone medication from an OTP?
- Have you had a bad experience at an OTP?
- If you're a health provider, have OTP requirements created barriers to patient care? Have OTP owners pressured you to advocate for or against legislation?
- Do you have any other story involving your experience at an OTP you would like to share?
Use the form on Senator Markey's website, which also lists his email and phone number should you want to set up a call or virtual meeting to share the story instead.
