Advocacy Alert: Congress: Help Beat the Addiction and Overdose Crisis with End of Year Package

December 15, 2022

via ASAM

As the year ends, Congress has a critical opportunity to pass comprehensive legislation to help our nation beat its addiction and overdose crisis.

The time to act is short, which is why lawmakers need to hear your voice now.

Our advocacy tool allows you to send a letter quickly and easily to your Members of Congress asking them to support comprehensive legislation that will help treat addiction and save lives.

The adulteration of the illegal drug supply has created an unprecedented and catastrophic moment in US history. The CDC has predicted over 107,000 drug overdose deaths for the 12-month period ending June 2022. It is a more dangerous time than ever to be an individual with addiction.

However, patients with addiction who engage in evidence-based addiction care are much less likely to die than those who remain untreated.

Now is the time to for Congress to pass comprehensive legislation that will increase options for patients, reduce stigma, and better integrate addiction treatment with other medical care. Please take action today!

A reminder, too, that if you want to contact them via phone or snail mail, BHAP has a tool for looking up who your elected representatives are across the United States. Free to use regardless of membership, check out our Find Your Rep Tool.
