Advocacy Alert: Overdoses Don’t Have to Be Fatal
September 23, 2021
via Shatterproof
More than 93,000 Americans died from an overdose in 2020 -- the highest number ever recorded.
COVID-19 is fueling this crisis, taking it from bad to worse. The social isolation, economic distress, and trauma of this global pandemic are putting our loved ones with addiction at greater risk of a deadly overdose.
But overdoses don't have to be fatal. Every person with a substance use disorder deserves the opportunity to recover. Naloxone helps make that happen.
Add your name to Shatterproof's petition: demand increased naloxone access during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond!
This safe, effective overdose reversal medication should be everywhere right now. It should be as common in public spaces as water fountains. It should be in every home, and in the hands of every person in the position to save a life.
Addiction is a treatable illness. It shouldn't be a death sentence.
