Advocacy Alert: Urgent: California AB 1542 Needs Your Input
June 28, 2021
via CBHDA
The California State Legislature is considering a bill (AB 1542) that would authorize Yolo County to offer a pilot program, known as the Secured Residential Treatment Program, for individuals experiencing SUDs who have been convicted of qualifying drug-motivated felony crimes. The pilot program would offer these individuals an alternative to incarceration.
Introduced by Assemblymember Kevin McCarty with Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry and Senator Bill Dodd, there is a hearing tomorrow at 1:30 pm Pacific. CBHDA encourages you to call in to give public testimony as well as using social media tomorrow between 11 am and noon.
They have created a toolkit with call-in tips and suggested social media guides, which can be downloaded here (in MS Word format).
A reminder that BHAP also has a way to find your representatives so you can contact them with your message.
