The federal government’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak has been complicated, as are most federal responses to problems of this size. Congress and the White House are trying to act fast, which can often lead to confusion. The goal is to get money out to those who need it in a timely manner, yet also be clear about how it is to be spent.

The latest legislation produced in response to the emergency -- commonly referred to as “Phase 3” -- is a $2.2 trillion package that seeks to aid just about everybody imaginable. Our concern is how the COVID 19 outbreak will impact behavioral health providers, and the unique challenges they will face in the coming months. They will be in need of resources and support to deal with a situation that is outside their expertise.

Of course, not everyone will receive the assistance they need, but we seek to break down what opportunities are available for treatment providers, individuals, non-profits, and other actors. There are loans, grants, and many other mechanisms of distribution to examine, so please join us as we do what we can to better explain this very intricate legislation.
